- Humsafaar's AI runs entirely on your phone. Your messages are never sent to us or anyone else.
- We have no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising SDKs in the app — there is nothing in Humsafaar that phones home with your activity.
- The only things Humsafaar downloads from the internet are the AI model files themselves — never your conversations.
- Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage, permanently deletes everything — there is no copy anywhere else.
Scope
This policy covers the Humsafaar mobile application ("Humsafaar", "the app", "we", "us"), published by Humsafaar (humsafaar.com). It applies to the Android and iOS versions of the app and describes how the app handles information on your device.
What we collect
Humsafaar is built so that almost nothing needs to leave your device. The table below is a complete account of the information the app handles, and where it lives.
None of the information above is transmitted to Humsafaar, to the model providers, or to any third party. We do not operate a server that receives your conversations, and we have no ability to view, recover, or restore this data if it is lost — it exists only on your device.
What we never collect
We do not collect, log, or transmit:
- The content of your conversations with the AI
- Analytics or usage statistics (there is no analytics SDK in the app)
- Crash reports containing your data (there is no crash-reporting SDK in the app)
- Advertising identifiers or behavioural profiles (the app shows no ads)
- Precise location, contacts, camera, or microphone data beyond what a feature you actively use requires in the moment, and even then, processing happens on-device
Network requests the app makes
Humsafaar needs an internet connection for exactly one purpose: downloading the AI model files you choose to use, from these sources:
huggingface.co— hosts the open-weight language models (Qwen, Gemma, LLaMA)cdn.humsafaar.ai— hosts our own supporting on-device models (speech and safety-classification models)
These requests fetch model files only. They do not include your messages, your name, or any identifier tied to your conversations. Once a model is downloaded, the app works fully offline — no further network access is needed to chat.
App permissions, explained
Storage & deletion
All app data is stored in Humsafaar's private, sandboxed storage on your device — the same protected storage the operating system gives every app, which other apps cannot read. You can delete your data at any time by:
- Deleting individual conversations from within the app
- Clearing app storage from your device's Settings
- Uninstalling the app entirely
Any of these actions permanently and irreversibly erases your data — we hold no backup, because we never had a copy to begin with.
Third parties
Humsafaar does not integrate any advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The app does not share information with third parties because it does not collect information capable of being shared in the first place. The only outbound connections the app makes are the model-download requests described above.
Children's privacy
Humsafaar is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly design the app to collect personal information from children. Because all data stays on-device and nothing is transmitted to us, we have no ability to identify or process the age of any user. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, we recommend using your device's parental controls, as we have no remote visibility into on-device usage.
India Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
Humsafaar's on-device-only design means we do not act as a "Data Fiduciary" processing personal data on our servers under the DPDP Act, 2023, because we do not receive, store, or process your personal data on any server we operate. Where any future feature of the app were to involve server-side processing, we will update this policy in advance and seek any consent the Act requires before that feature is enabled.
Changes to this policy
If we change what Humsafaar collects or how it works, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes — anything that would mean the app starts collecting more than it does today — will also be communicated inside the app before you're affected.
